Affiliate Marketing - A Beginner's Introduction
If you are reading this article, you've probably heard the term affiliate marketing. This is an article introducing the novice online entrepreneur to the ideas and principles of affiliate marketing.
Basically, affiliate marketing is simply promoting someone else's product or service, and earning a commission for each sale. You don't get to keep all of the money. And, if you do it correctly, you can build a business that generates significant income for a long time to come.
So, how do you get started?
First, you need to do some research. Find a market with eager buyers, and a product or service to sell to them. Sounds simple, right? But, imagine doing this in the nearly impossible Highest Income Earners field. You'd be competing against the domains of big name pros. What if your commission payout just wasn't anywhere near what they were making? The obvious answer is to find some market segments where youittomust make a profit. Find a group of people with a specific need, and providing them with a solution. Then, provide them with it. Sounds simple enough, right? But, is it really?
The Top Second Tier Affiliate Programs sound pretty cold. Where do you find these people? Wouldn't you think that after all of the specialization and specialization that has taken place in the world of Internet Marketing, finding new niches would be something very easy? And, once you've found your niche, how do you get your share of the profit?
Think about it. You have found a hungry market with money to spend, and a product that can help them meet their needs. You have invested your time, and bought into a convincing business model. Who should you trust? The people who you convinced will be promoting the product that you bought, what will potentially be thousands of other people promoting the same product? What makes you think that they will be doing you and not the people who are taking your money? To many of us, it seems like the wealthy and successful affiliates that you know put a lot of time and money upfront just to get your money. And, it only takes one email to a guru to convince you that another so-called 'guru'ammed him and you are now on the road to Failure.
So, how do you fix this?
I'll tell you two rules of life: find a mentor and follow he rules. You must dedicate yourself to learning from someone who is doing what you want to do. If you are on a mission to quit your job and do something that you are passionate about, then it's a lot easier to be successful at it, and to havesites to promote the products that you use in your passionate markets.
It's what I did. As soon as I found a program or opportunity that I was interested in, I packed all of my bags and journeyed across the Promised land. I found a program, created a great website and even started to generate traffic to my website. A steady stream of traffic, that was.
There are a lot of back roads in this precious Promised land, but there is only one road to success: your OWN INFORMATION WEBSITE.
The same thing applies to affiliate marketing or any business: find a product you believe in and promote it! Even if you spent a lot of time, effort and money to promote your product, if you spent so much time at the beginning, it's not going to be easy to keep motivating yourself to do it on a daily basis. Especially if you are not making any sales. What I am getting at here is that you have to find a way to keep yourself motivated. 'Motivation' is a powerful thing. I don't believe that it is possible to maintain self-motivation for an extended period of time unless you are on operative schedule, or properly motivated.
Here's where the real magic starts: Once you find something that works, stick to it. Say what? There are so many ways to do affiliate marketing! And since we are on the internet, let's make money online. This is where most of us spend majority of our time. So, we have to make sure that we do what it takes. If it takes several months before we see any sort of income, then it's time to Resign and Go Home. To go back to the Promised Land of Affiliate Profits. But first, we have to Understand what's going on here.
Your job as an affiliate marketer is to Promote products. To promote products. This is what makes you the money. Okay, you have a website, you have a product to promote, but you don't have a clue on how to promote it.
